Looking for Cockapoo rescues in New Jersey? These are the Cockapoo rescue dogs (and associated breeds) that are currently up for adoption in New Jersey. This list is currently only updated once a week as it takes time to collate the information on the cockapoo rescues in your area. The last update was performed on 27 April 2012.
Please note that the list may not be complete as not all the Cockapoo rescue dogs in New Jersey details are put on line. Contact your local dog rescue center to find out if they have (or know of) a Cockapoo rescue waiting to be adopted near you in New Jersey!
Why are there other dogs shown rather than just cockapoo rescues in New Jersey? Well, we only currently only search a small number of the animal shelters in New Jersey for Cockapoo rescues that are available for adoption and not all the shelters will have a Cockapoos. So rather than show nothing we show the breeds that are similar to the Cockapoo - all the dogs in the shelters in New Jersey need homing, can you see your next dog below?
Travis is very smart, but has been worked over quite a bit. He is coming out of his funk and is really looking to be showered with love and affection. View this pet on Petfinder.com

Mikey is a 7 yr old cockapoo, white in color. He weighs 24 lbs. He was given up because he did not like the children in his home, and started getting cranky, but he's generally very friendly with us. He follows one or the other of us around, closely, and sticks with us like velcro. He seems very sweet and affectionate, even starved for affection. He's getting along with all the other dogs as well, and has shown no aggressive tendencies, except about grooming, then he can be very, very difficult. We suppose the toddler might have been rather rough wih hm. MIKEY can be seen by (email) request most Saturdays, 1:30 to 4 p.m., at Pet Valu, in the Nelsons Corner Shopping Center, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. If you need directions get them from www.mapquest.com , or use your GPS. Prospective adopters should hopefully live within the radius of a couple of hours drive from Princeton, NJ, to make home visits easier for us, but were not strict about the distance if we think the match is a good one between the dog and a new family. If you want to see MIKEY it is always best to request that this dog comes with us on Saturday, by emailing us at mailto:email@example.com>firstname.lastname@example.org. Sam is an older poodle but still very active and alert. He IS creamy white in color. He has cataracts, and we would hope eventually for corrective surgery if we can find donors willing to help him.. He is very sweet and gentle, and very people oriented. We worried about diabetes at first, but he's not diabetic, and the cataracts are genetic and could be removed by surgery, Sam gets around amazingly well very loving a real sweetheart of a dog..Sam has been treated with VECTRA 3D for the prevention of fleas and ticks SAM'S SON can be seen by request Saturdays, 1 to 3 p.m., at Pet Valu, in the Nelsons Corner Shopping Center, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. If you need directions get them from www.mapquest.com , or use your GPS if you are so fortunate to have one. Rudy is a rather small, bronze or apricot colored designer breed cavalier spainel poodle which is called a cavapoo He is young, 5 years old (DOB 12/13/2006). He weighs 11 lbs. His first owner bought him from a breeder. Rudy has a resource guarding problem, but oddly enough Rudy guards not toys, or food, or treats, but areas such as crates, the living room, and people, i.e., his owner." Rudy is an extremely beautiful dog, and, with some of us he is sweet as can be..but his reputation can make one wary around him. , He's being very good with us here for the most part, I think it was a shock to him to learn that he's not the only dog in the world, so some sort of socialization process is at work, and there is hope for him..Rudy can be seen by (email) request. We show dogs on most Saturdays, 1:30 to 4 p.m., at Pet Valu, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844, but if you want to see a particular dog please email us at least by the Friday before. Prospective adopters would hopefully live within 2 hours' drive from Princeton NJ, but we hare not strict about that, if we feel that a good home is being offered. Applications are filled out when you meet the dog, and it takes approximately a week to make an adoption. View this pet on Petfinder.com
Champ is a terrierpoo, who came to us from another shelter. He is a stocky, all white little dog, 2 to 3 years old and weighing about 16 lbs. He was found with a telephone wire embedded in his neck, matted, filthy, a raging flea allergy. He was cleaned up and his telephone wire appendage removed under anesthesia. Poor fellow, no wonder he is mistrustful and has an attitude. He warms up after he gets to know you, but that takes time. He becomes then very possessive of the person he thinks of as his own. He loves to sit on laps, and can be very friendly, but is unpredictable. We think he might have been mistreated by the former owner's kids...he was okay with them, but would urinate on them. He's okay with other dogs his size. He follows one of us around scolding, scolding, but not biting, but with other staff members he okay. He seems to be a loner, not really chumming it up with other dogs. But he's all right with them. In the photos he had to be closely groomed, his fur had become long and matted. A later photo shows him less bald, and involved in one of his favorite activities, vigorously arguing with me about a toy he has been playing with.CHAMP can be seen by email request. We show dogs on Saturdays, 1 to 3 PM., at Pet Valu, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844, but if you want to see a particular dog please email us at least by the Friday before. Lucie (Lucinda Sniffles is her full name...she probably came in many years ago with some sort of cold.) Her birthday is 8/1/00, so she just turned eleven. She weighs 16 lbs. She is an all black shih tzu/poodle mix. She came to us I think from the Trenton Animal Shelter in 2002, and was adopted out sometime that year. She stayed with the adoptive family for 9 years, coming back to us in 2010. The reason for her return was because of constant vomiting and stomach upsets. She is an "ingester": she will eat toys, pens, paper, rags, clothing, toys, anything and everything. These are items that could harm her stomach, but the family's home had been thoroughly Lucinda proofed, and there was no ingested material causing a problem. Though the family was very saddend about returning her, our assuring them that she was problem-free here was of no avail. "The house smells of vomit." We've seen absolutely none of that since she has been back here. She is maintained on a bland diet and physically is doing very well. I suspect there was some component in the family's cleaning setup, carpet cleaner or some such, that was upsetting to Lucinda, but I couldn't convince them of that.Meanwhile Lucinda, after 9 pampered years, has become very depressed, and has not gotten over being "dumped" back with us. We do our best to console her, but she keeps to herself and, I think, just mopes about not having her own person again. She's been to the vet many times because of this moping, but there is nothing physically wrong with her. She would love to be someone's loving pet again, so please consider giving her a new home in her golden years. BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO LUCINDA-PROOF THE HOUSE...THE SPECIAL NEEDS ARE NO TOYS OR OTHER ITEMS LYING AROUND THAT SHE COULD INGEST.The previous owner stated: "Lucy is a very longing, sweet dog. She is very gentle, except when she plays, then she growls sometimes but does not bite. She loves to rub feet. She loves getting belly rubs, back scratches and butt scratches. She loves children and other dogs. She is completely house trained and likes to sleep in a crate. She follows directions easily. She is a wonderful dog. If it weren't for her health issues, we would not have let her go."Lucinda Sniffles can be seen (by email request) at 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844, in the Nelson's Corner Shopping Center. We are there from 1:30 to 4:00 pm Saturday afternoons, weather permitting. Email to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com View this pet on Petfinder.com
Sanny, our 5th of that name, came in from NYC where he was found on the street as a stray. His teeth were very bad...NYC ought to be included in the Third World as far as the way people care for their dogs there sometimes. He is now over his severe kennel cough that he came in with...he got very bored in isolation, for he is very, very people-oriented and wants always to be with someone. He is scheduled for his dental soon, and then should be ready to go. He seems otherwise in great shape, and is a very loving, friendly dog. His only bad habit is perhaps wanting always to be with the person who he thinks is his human. Sammy is thought to be about 12+ years old. He is up-to-date and is microcipped. He is very sweet and gentle, and tolerates all handling, in fact he loves it, and follows you around 'like a puppy dog.' He is a slight 14 lbs.Sammy 5 can be seen by (email) request at Pet Valu, 6 01 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ, 08844, in the Nelcon's Corner Shopping Center. We show dogs there most Saturdays between 1:30 and4:00 PM. Email firstname.lastname@example.org View this pet on Petfinder.com
Freddie is a small chocolate poodle, he looks more like a toy, though his father, Jack, is almost a standard, his mom, Sadie J, a toy...so he ended up favoring his mom. A very sweet little dog, though always demanding of attention. He has a lot of vet goings on to be scheduled, he is unneutered, and hasn't seen a vet in the past several years. More as we learn more. Papa Jack Poodle is a miniature, but still large (31 lbs) gray poodle. He is the father of Freddie, and Jimmy Poodle., Jack, is almost a standard, the mom, Sadie J, a toy...so most of the brood ended up favoring the mom. (Sadie was adopted out right away, she was very outgoing, and would have nothing to do with her family while here, though they loved her very much, and when she comes to visit the whole crew jumps for joy. Jack is a very sweet little dog, though he seemed a bit bewildered at the change in his living situation, since his owner had to give him and all the family up for financial reasons. He has a lot of vet goings on to be scheduled, though he was neutered, still he hasn't seen a vet in the past several years. More as we learn more. He's extremely affectionate and wants to be around someone all the time.Papa Jack can be seen by (email) request at Pet Valu, 601 Route 206,Hillsborogh, NJ 08844, in the Nelson's Corner Shopping Center. Scooby Doo can be seen by (email) request at Pet Valu, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. We are there most Saturdays, from 1:30 to 4:00. Send an email to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. Scooby Doo was given up by his owner, because he could "could no longer care for him. - financial difficulties." Scooby is 5 years old. Scooby came to us from Manhattan. He was neutered by the shelter, where he also had all his shots, heartworm test, and microchip. He is a very handsome dog as you can see from his photos. Because of his attitude about not being disturbed until he's ready to get up he should not be in a home with small children.Scooby can have quite an attitude right at first, if he doesn't know you, or if he wants to sleep in and you suggest its time to get up. But once awake and up, he's a sweet little guy who loves attention. He's very active, curious, happy, and inquistive, always exploring and eager for new things. He has a wonderful smile when he is begging for treats. He weighs 17.8 lbs. He is in excellent health. View this pet on Petfinder.com
Jasonee, pronounced 'Jasonay'...she was found by the side of a freeway somewhere in the City, and for some strange reason they called her Jason at the NYC shelter from when she came to us. It seemed odd to call a female dog Jason, so we sort of 'frenchified' the name as Jasone. When she was found in NYC and when she came in to us she was paralyzed and could not move her hind legs...there was no sign of injury, and a good deal of muscle wasting in those legs, so it was thought by the veterinarians and neurologists we saw that it had been the result of an old injury, perhaps hit by a car, perhaps kicked, who knows. They complimented us on the good nursing care we were giving her, and thought she would be this way forever. But lo! She has started standing up and even walking, sometimes as much as 50 feet. She could probably walk more, but she gets in a hurry, and outruns her legs' abilities, and starts dragging the hind quarters again. She was getting physiotherapy in our swimming pool during the summer, and that helped immensely too...we'll probably now have to move indoors to the bath to help her keep up her progress. It is great to see how much she has improved. She's a real trooper and wishes she could keep up with the rest of the dogs when they run off somewhere, but she's still pretty fast.Jasonee can be seen by (email) request at Pet Valu, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. LENA can be seen by (email) request at Pet Valu, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. We are there from 1:30 to 4:00 Saturdays. Email to email@example.comLena is I guess what one would call a 'feral' dog. She was an e escapee from a commercial breeder, but her 'escape' was to run into a barn where nobody found her for some four months or so. Hence she came to us fearful, hiding, refusing to come in sometimes at night, skittish, never allowing herself to be held or touched. Gradually over time she has improved. She has even made some doggie friends and chooses "her" same run to stay in at night now with her two friends, Midnight 4 and Woody, both cocker spaniels, but she feels comfortable with them. Gradually she is getting more comfortable with staff, and even is starting to relate to us. If adopted a fenced in yard is a strict requirement, for if she should become frightened she might be in the next county or the next state in a very short time. She has her shots and is spayed, and in good health, for all her ordeals and trials. She would be a challenge, but with a doggie "big brother" or "big sister" in a new home she will no doubt blossom and lose her fears even more. Unlike most cairns, she not only tolerates cats, she gets along well with them.. View this pet on Petfinder.com
We've had so many of the royal and imperial families that we have to make sure we can tell them apart, so Prince's additional name comes from a character in a Dostoievsky novel, as Prince Myshkin. This Prince is a character indeed. A handsome fellow, all white, possibly all poodle, but the NYC shelter thought he had some bichon in him. He was given up by his owner because of "no time." He was said to be 10 years old, and, as an owner surrender, we guess this must be right, but he seems much, much younger, possibly only 5, and the "owner" could have been a family member who did not know the original owner's history or exactly how old the dog was. He is up-to-date with shots, microchipped, but yet to be neutered. He weighs 17.5 lbs. He is extremely friendly, to people and dogs, and always curious about what's going on. He jumps into your arms, he's so happy for attention.PRINCE MYSHKIN can be seen by (email) request at Pet Valu, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. We are there from 1:30 to 4:00 Saturdays. Scooby was an owner surrender, because of "moving" where he was not allowed to have a pet...a familiar story, unfortunately. Scooby is understandably very resentful of being dumped in a shelter, and he ha not been happy since. He is what is called 'cage brave,' he sounds ferocious when he's in a crate, and resists going in (or coming out, for that matter), but once out he's his own sweet little self.Scooby 2 is supposed to be 11 years old, and weighs 11 lbs. He's very handsome, smaller than he looks in our photographs. He is in good health, up-to-date with shots, and microchipped. He's a handsome, but not at all an easy dog. Maybe he will get over is mad and warm up soon, he shows potential to do so at times. It's been tough for him.Scooby 2 can be seen at Pet Valu, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844, in the Nelson's Corner Shopping Center. We are there most Saturdays between 1:30 and 4:00 PM. GUMMI BEAR can be seen by (email) request at Pet Valu, 601 Route 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844, in the Nelson's Corner Shopping Center. We are there from 1:30 to 4:00, Saturdays, and by special request GUMMI BEAR could go up on Sunday, same time, to be shown with our cairns. Send email to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.. GUMMI BEAR (the name is someone's idea of a joke) has absolutely not teeth. She is a cute little toy poodle. We suspect she was a breed dog in NYC before she got away and was found as a stray, and may not have taken too kindly to having so many pups, so possibly the teeth were all pulled to avoid any harm coming to the pets. Even so, she has a mean vise-like bite with her gums, for we had to give her medication when she came in with a bad cold. She has now recovered, and is ready to go for spaying as soon as it can be scheduled. She is very active and friendly, but would prefer to have her own person, probably just one person, for whom she should make a great companion. She is up-to-date on shots and microchipped.
